Jade Dragon Ru Yi, Zhou Dynasty (770 - 221 BC)

The Ru Yi was a traditional symbol of how high a person ranked in the ancient governmental hierarchy in China.  This is an extremely old nephrite jade carving in wonderful condition.  It is a beautiful tan color jade (it does not have the reddish appearance seen in the photos).  The detail is quite exceptional for this period at the same time reflecting the primitive qualities of a Zhou dynasty carving.  This Ru Yi is a little over 5" in length, it stands about 1 1/4" high, and is 1 1/4" wide.  It is dated from 770 - 221 BC.  This is a museum quality piece that we were able to acquire from one of our contacts in China at a price well below the market value and we are passing this exceptionally low price onto our customers.
