Bronze Tibetan Ceremonial Ritual Weapon
This is a magnificent antique bronze temple item. The blade is symbolically used to signify the cutting away of the ego as part of the purification process leading to enlightenment. The double dorgi is often seen as a symbol of power and is used by Tibetan Buddhist monks to attract spiritual energy. This heavy and intricately carved bronze piece measures 17 1/4" x 9 5/8 " x 2 3/4" and weighs almost 4 1/2 pounds. We are not certain of the age, but estimate that it is from the early 1900s.
