Rare Qing Dynasty Zitan Chinese Scholar's Brushpot

This ancient scholar's brushpot is magnificently carved from a singe piece of rosewood.  Zitan rosewood was used extensively in the Ming dynasty, to the point where it became a very rare resource by the time of the Qing dynasty and as such, became a treasured item.  This scholar piece is beautifully carved.  It has a natural opening in the wood on one side and is in excellent condition.  It is 5 1/2 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide.  This is a highly collectable piece.
